About the Park

Amacayacu National Natural Park protects tropical rainforest, flooded forest, wetlands, and river systems in Colombia's Amazon Trapezoid. The official park page lists it as open, but this is not an independent jungle excursion: activities require advance coordination and a local guide or interpreter through the community ecotourism teams in Mocagua or San Martín de Amacayacu.

Access
Start in Leticia and travel upriver toward Puerto Nariño. The public fast boat reaches Mocagua in about 1 hour 30 minutes in normal conditions; San Martín de Amacayacu needs a longer river connection arranged with the community in advance.
Before booking
Confirm the current reservation and entry requirements, arrange the required local guide or interpreter, and ask about accident insurance and the exact community and park route before paying for a tour.
On arrival
Register, attend the required induction, and contribute to the community ecotourism fund. River times change with water levels, and transport, guiding, meals, and accommodation are normally paid separately.
