About the Park

Chingaza National Natural Park protects páramo, high-Andean forest, wetlands, and eastern Andean foothills northeast of Bogotá. The official park page lists Chingaza as open, but entry is tightly planned: visitors need an approved advance reservation, an authorized guide or interpreter, accident insurance, and private or contracted road transport to an authorized sector.

Access

There is no public transport into the park. Arrive by private or contracted vehicle through the authorized La Calera, Fómeque, or Guasca approach for your reserved sector; entry on foot, bicycle, or motorcycle is prohibited.

Before booking

Contact the park to confirm capacity and dates before paying. Request the approved reservation at least three business days ahead, then arrange the mandatory authorized guide or interpreter and required accident insurance separately.

Conditions

Plan only one sector per day. Frequent rain, cloud, cold, altitude, unpaved roads, and early entry hours require waterproof layers, suitable footwear, a healthy time buffer, and enough vehicle fuel.
